Glyph Dream
I was lying on my
left side on a bed
in a dorm room. My
right arm was being
tattooed by Allen
Ginsberg, who sat
behind me, bald,
forty-something,
docile. Uranus:
that was the glyph,
rebellion-signifier.
The waspy hum of
the needle made
me stare at blue
walls, & the bed
opposite, where
someone unknown
lay, sleeping, &
then I fell asleep,
& awoke proud to
have had such a
marked dream. My
arm was unchanged.
Buddha Dream
I dreamed you were
an old man & we came
to visit you, thinking
you were young. White
hair elicited a sense
of shock, but then you
got into a speedboat &
left us to wonder at
your agility. I asked
(being in high school
again) my guidance
counselor (scarfed &
hatted) if he'd heard
of you, & he had, &
that you were a real
Buddhist, just didn't care.
I thought it wasn't fair.
